Bold Starling
I watched a stand of staghorn sumacs growing on my property, from small saplings to 20 feet high mature trees. Butterflies sheltered among its leaves, and birds of all types flocked to feast on its flowers. This artwork depicts a lone starling that I found roosting atop the sumac’s strong flower stalk. The neutrals compliment the startling reds of the flowers. The print or cards would be perfect for the bird or nature lover in your life. It also pairs very well with “Shy Blue Jay,” companion print in this collection, available here: Shy Blue Jay
Choose from 5” x 7” open edition and 8" x 10" limited edition size prints. Limited edition prints are on bamboo paper and come numbered, titled and signed by artist, either with or without a mat and frame. Open edition prints are not numbered, but are titled and signed by the artist and can also be framed. Unframed prints come with an archival backer and ship flat.
Framed 8" x 10" prints are matted with an archival off-white mat and backer, under glass, and live-edge frame is completely ready to hang. Mat and frame adds approximately 8” to each side; an 8" x 10" print once framed is approximately 16” x 18”. Frame dimensions are approximate due to the variability of widths in the live edge wood; No two frames are alike. Artist-crafted frame is made from rescued slab wood, wood that is normally burned as sugaring wood or bonfires. Frame is finished in three coats of Vermont poly-whey varnish, a USDA certified biobased product. Note: photo of framed print shows a different example print but is to show the handcrafted mat and frame style.
Inside of cards are left blank, ready for your personalization. Cards measure approximately 5 1/4" x 4" and are printed on recycled white cardstock. A recycled white envelope is included with each card.
Pairs beautifully with companion artwork, Shy Blue Jay, available here: Shy Blue Jay
