I have found that creating art is not just something I might think to do once in a while when inspiration takes me; It is something that occupies most of my thoughts every day, without fail. It is what draws me to my studio day after day, the never-ending desire to fulfill what I was meant to do, who I am meant to be, and what I want to deliver to others. I see brushstrokes in the trees as I drive, color combinations in the skyline I'm gazing at while I sip my tea, and design ideas forming on top of each other as I spot a deer feeding in the woods. These things happen in a second, but they occupy all of my waking seconds. And, most people may see this as complete madness, but I love it with all my being - that I see the world in a completely different way.
Over the past 25 years, my media preference has evolved. I started with colored pencils when I was no more than a child, then transitioned to watercolor pencils as a teen, pure watercolor paint as an adolescent, acrylics for most of my adulthood and finally oils for the last several years. Now, I am able to use all of these medias - singly and in combination - to create completely unique nature art.
Living in rural Vermont for most of my life has granted me the opportunity to view the natural world in the most intimate of settings, and to capture those moments forever on canvas. I am particularly obsessed with wildlife. My degree is in wildlife biology, and as such, my artwork is accurately depicted. Every swath of vegetation, phase of hair growth and habitat feature is considered. I am a member of Artists for Conservation, and donate a percentage of my artwork sales to wildlife and habitat conservation. See artistsforconservation.org for more information on the incredible stewardship being carried out through art.
I enjoy engaging with people and find painting requests of any kind very satisfying. I have painted pieces for those that want to honor a loved one that has passed due to cancer, another that has survived addiction, those to be used for marriage proposals or simply a loving fairyland poem painting for a child. No matter what I do, I love feedback, so feel free to email me about your situation and how my artwork has impacted you or someone you know. Or better yet, ask how I can create a unique painting for you!
