Custom Artist-crafted Live-edge Frame - For Art on Paper (under glass with 2" mat)
Finish off your artwork with my signature live-edge wooden frame, completely handmade in Vermont! I create custom frames from rescued slab wood, wood that is normally burned as sugaring wood or for bonfires. Frame is finished in three coats of Vermont poly-whey varnish, a USDA certified biobased product. Frames include hanging hardware. Frame adds approximately 4-6” to each side of artwork; For example, an 8" x 10" painting that is framed has final outside framed dimensions of approximately 13” x 15.” Frame dimensions are approximate due to the variability of widths in the live-edge wood; No two frames are alike. When picking a size during checkout, pick the size that your artwork is; A frame will be created based on that size.
Three colors are available, natural, dark brown and black. The dark brown and black frame styles are created using a Japanese technique, called Shou sugi ban, where the wood is torched in flame to acquire a darkened color, bringing out the natural grain of the wood and preserving it, without the need of a chemical stain.
